Dear Willa,
Happy One-Month Birthday, my darling!
My favorite times with you up to now have been our mornings together. As the sun is coming up in your nursery window, we sleep chest-to-chest in the little twin bed that I used to sleep in as a child. I love feeling your soft breath and your tiny heart beat – and sometimes even your funny hiccups.
The thing that has surprised me the most is how productive you are. One time you made a poop so big and powerful that it got all over the family room floor, all over Daddy’s clothes and even on his glasses! Splat! We laughed and laughed!
Sometimes it’s been hard, especially when you weren’t feeling well with acid reflux. I would do anything to erase any pain or sadness and help you feel happy and peaceful.
I can’t wait for you to smile back at me – I think I may have seen a glimmer of that today, on your one-month and my thirty-forth birthday. What a gift!
Your papa couldn’t be prouder. He spent three whole weeks with us at home when you were first born and I called him the “master soother” because he knew every trick in the book to calm you down. Now, first thing when he comes home from work, he wants nothing more than to hold you. I’m falling in love with your daddy all over again – just watching him fall in love with you.
You are our best girl, the light of our lives. We love you to pieces!
xoxo
